Jumping and grabbing your board is a popular surfing trick. Here are the steps to do so easily and safely.
Speed up while riding a bit downwind. Look for where you intend to pop. It could be flat or on a wave. Push with power on your back leg while bending your front knee.
Let your front arm go and catch your board’s nose with your front hand.
Catch your board. Bend your front knee and hold it. Let the board come up to you, don’t come down to the board as this will cause you to rotate.
To land this trick, send your board one or two meters in front of you, making sure your knees stay bent. Put your feet on your board while extending your legs. Pull your kite with more power from your back hand and keep it looping to give you more traction. Go downwind to control your speed.
